Uniform

Uniform can be bought from a range of online shops including here on our page of International Dance Supplies or here at RAD Enterprises - the RAD's own shop. Additionally, Woodbury Dance Studio tops and hoodies can be purchased here at Ship Shape Exmouth.

A ballet uniform creates consistency and discipline in every class. Students look professional and feel part of a structured environment. Moreover, uniform clothing allows teachers to assess posture and technique clearly.

Teachers can immediately spot alignment issues and muscle engagement. As a result, students improve faster and avoid bad habits. A proper ballet uniform supports training and builds confidence in young dancers.

Uniforms also remove distractions during lessons. Students focus on movement instead of fashion choices. Consequently, the learning environment becomes more productive and calm.

Character

The leotard forms the foundation of a ballet uniform. It fits closely to the body and shows movement clearly. Teachers can observe posture and technique without obstruction.
At Woodbury Dance Studio we assign specific colors for each level. Therefore, teachers can easily identify student groups.

Extras

Ballet tights create a clean and professional appearance. They also highlight leg lines and footwork. Proper tights improve visual clarity during instruction.
Soft and stretchy materials allow full movement. Additionally, they keep muscles warm during practice.
Ballet shoes provide the necessary support for class exercises. They allow dancers to move safely and comfortably. Proper footwear prevents slipping and improves balance.
Leather ballet shoes with a full sole are required for students up to Grade 4. From Grade 5 upwards canvas, split sole ballet shoes can be worn.
Neat hair forms an essential part of the ballet uniform. This style keeps hair away from the face and neck. A secure hairstyle improves visibility for instructors. A ponytail or bun for classes, a neat polished bun for exams.
Grades 1 and above require a character skirt and character shoes. Grade 1 - 3 with a smaller heel, Grades 4 and above a cuban heel (don't buy new unless the previous ones are too small). We have a bag of second hand shoes and skirts if you would like to borrow them.
There may be a requirement to wear a warm top during colder months. A tight fitted jumper or a Woodbury Dance Studio top
